The internal combustion of India’s railways started with several diesel-powered ALCO locomotives introduced in the 1950s. Which equipped with 16-cylinder 251-B engine 2600 horsepower WDM2 wide-track diesel locomotive became the main rail freight in India. The diesel locomotive design and development organization established in 1987 carried out many fruitful improvements on the locomotive. In April 1994, the Indian Railways Varanasi diesel locomotive plant began mass production of two variants of the all-modified WDM2: Locomotive WDP2 and WDG2. In April 1995, another B0-B0 prototype was produced for the WDP1 locomotive operating between cities. The Indian Railways has also developed a C0-C0 diesel locomotive that uses ALCO’s standard 2,300 horsepower, standard 251-B diesel engine (only one streamlined driver’s cab at one end, paired use, push-pull special express and commuter cars, estimated The next 12 months will produce 10 units).
