浮选机的改进一直是选矿机械研究的中心,曾有人建议改进浮选机技术可按以下几方面进行:①设计大容积的浮选槽;②改进机械搅拌和充气机械搅拌浮选机的充气分散装置;③研制适用于粗粒浮选、电子和离子浮选、污水处理的浮选机。但浮选机的改进,目前主要集中在浮选槽规格的大型化和充气装置的改造这两方面。 降低选矿费用的措施之一是提高设备的单位处理能力。自六十年代末期槽子容积大于6米~3的丹佛型浮选机问世以来,目前机械搅拌浮选槽已扩大到42米~3,充气机械搅拌浮选槽已扩大到70米~3。苏联计划1984年将成批生产槽子容积为100米~3的φ_Ⅱ-100特大型浮选机。由φ_Ⅱ型浮选槽的技术特性见表。
