英国移民作家、后殖民作家和理论作家V.S.奈保尔在西方享有盛誉,曾获毛姆奖、布克奖等不少重要文学奖项,2001年荣获诺贝尔文学奖。V.S.奈保尔的作品主要写印度、非洲、加勒比地区人的生存状况,表现了后殖民时代的世态人心。本文简单地介绍了V.S.奈保尔的生平和他的作品《世间之路》以及其序言之后,从诸如旁观者等不同的角度探讨了《世间之路》中的短篇小说An Inhertiance的丰富多样的主题。
British immigrant writer, postcolonial writer and theoretical writer V.S. Naipaul has a good reputation in the West. He has won many important literary awards such as the Maugham Prize, the Booker Prize, and won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001. V.S. Naipaul’s works mainly focus on the living conditions of people in India, Africa and the Caribbean, and show the state of the world in the post-colonial era. This article briefly introduces the life of VS Naipaul and his work The Way of the World and its preface, and explores the rich and varied themes of An Inhertiance’s short story in The Way of the World from different perspectives such as bystanders .
