Keys to the CPC’s Success

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China （CPC）. Its centennial glory， in particular the social and economic miracles it has secured over the past several decades， has intrigued people around the world to explore the keys behind its success.
A firm belief in Marxism， socialism， and communism has been the spiritual key for the Party to brave tremendous difficulties and challenges. The united fronts， strong military forces， and Party building are the three magic weapons that the CPC has used to defeat its enemies during the country’s revolution. Party building has stood at the core of its success. Making sweeping efforts to strengthen Party building is the key to the Party’s eternal vitality. The centennial history of the CPC has proven that only by continuously improving Party building can the Party be built into a vibrant Marxist ruling party that is always at the forefront of the times and able to overcome all challenges， enjoys the wholehearted support of the people， and has the courage to reform itself.

Huangpu， a district of Guangzhou in south China’s Guangdong Province， has served as beacon of influence in the history of navigation in China and the world. It once was one of the departure ports of the ancient Maritime Silk Road， connecting China and the rest of the world. In October 1950， it was rebuilt and the port area was expanded. In 1984， it was selected as the main region of the Guangzhou Development District， becoming a bridgehead for the country’s reform and opening-up drive.
Today， Huangpu has become a major port in southern China， serving as a new trade innovation center of the Belt & Road Initiative. It has also become an advanced manufacturing highland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The scale of its manufacturing industry has reached hundreds of billions of RMB， and its capacity of scientific innovation has ranked first among China’s economic development zones. At the beginning of 2021， Huangpu announced its goal to exceed RMB 1.4 trillion in terms of manufacturing scale by 2025 and become the strongest industrial district in China.

According to the national development plan， by the year 2035， China’s rural revitalization will achieve decisive progress and agricultural modernization will be basically realized. By 2050， rural vitalization will be achieved； rural areas should have robust agriculture， beautiful landscapes， and prosperous farmers. Therefore， rural revitalization has a bright future. With the deep integration with modern civilization， villages in the future will see their residents enjoying a wealthier， healthier， and smarter life. How to transform lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets has been a global conundrum. The issues related to farmers in developing countries have been quite common， without mature and replicable modes to adopt. However， at the present， China has already laid the foundation for rural revitalization in the aspects of economy， science and technology， finance， and culture. It will make great strides on making good use of rural resources to develop specific industries. Seizing the opportunity of digitalization， the primary task is to improve the value of agriculture by creating a market-oriented mechanism involving government， enterprises， and rural areas.

Coinciding with the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China （CPC）， the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival （SIFF） was successfully held in June in Shanghai， the birthplace of the CPC. The Chinese movies about the Party’s evolutionary process and the country’s struggles for liberty and prosperity as well as contemporary development under the Party’s leadership have recaptured the CPC’s glorious centennial journey.
The pandemic has brought other international film festivals to a standstill with some delayed or turning to online activities. As the first and only international non-specialized competitive film festival in China， SIFF is poised to lead the recovery of the film industry in the world. With a professional attitude and production of excellent movies， it has attracted much attention， received positive feedback， and met the expectations of the movie fans.
This year， SIFF received 4，443 registered films from 113 countries and regions， marking the highest number of registered films ever. Among the 400-plus films screened， 73 are world premieres， 42 are international premieres， 89 are Asian premieres， and 99 are premieres in China.
