用~(60)Co γ射线25kGy辐照、预真空高压蒸汽135℃5min、下排气式高压蒸汽121℃ 25min灭菌的饲料分别喂养KM、ICR小鼠,观察它们的生长发育、繁殖、自然死亡淘汰情况及主要器官体重百分比。结果证明:预真空高压蒸汽灭菌的饲料喂养效果最好,生长曲线、繁殖,率、产仔率、器官体重百分比与对照(未灭菌处理的饲料)组无显著差异(P>0.05),试验期间无自然死亡的小鼠。普通下排气式高压蒸汽灭菌饲料喂养效果最差,但小鼠食用这种饲料的同时通过饮水补充复合维生素B可促进小鼠正常发育,提高繁殖率、降低死亡率。~(60)Co γ-射线辐照灭菌饲料喂养小鼠,虽然在3—8周龄期间发育基本正常,但随时间的延长增重缓慢,自然死亡的淘汰率上升;并伴有脾脏增大的倾向,雄性小鼠睾丸萎缩,与对照组、预真空组比较有极显著差异(P<0.01);经组织学检查,该试验组雄性小鼠睾丸有明显的病变,曲细精管体积变小,生精细胞零乱,精子数减少。小鼠在3—8周龄喂γ射线灭菌料,再改用未处理对照饲料喂养,发现雄性小鼠睾丸萎缩是不可恢复的病变;用该试验组的雌、雄成年鼠分别与对照组的雄、雌鼠交叉配种,雌鼠受孕率极低。用辐照饲料喂养小鼠不仅引起雄性小鼠繁殖功能下降,同时也影响雌性小鼠的繁殖功能。辐照饲料中补充维生素E250mg/kg效果不显著。饲料经辐照灭菌会发生一系列的变化,喂养小鼠效果差,可能是多因素作用的结果。
