经过数次推迟,盼望已久的“气味”(Aura,又称“奥拉”)卫星终于在2004年7月20日发射。这颗卫星由诺思罗普-格鲁门公司制造,主要用于研究地球臭氧层、地球大气的污染情况和地球气候的改变状况,为地球气候环境做体检。它将与另外两颗已升空的卫星—“土”(Terra,又称“泰拉”)、“水”(Aqua,又称“阿奎”)一起,三颗被称为“环保三兄弟”的卫星聚首太空,对地球环境进行全面探测,为保护人类的摇篮带来福音,也为“地球观测系统”第一轮的研究工作划上一个句号。
After several delays, the long-awaited “Aura” satellite was finally launched on July 20, 2004.
