The paper explores the narrative and rhetorical strategies used in a series of popular books and novels, which are from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. Some of these texts are for the future, while others focus on the history of the climate and the daily events that have taken place in the near future. Some regard the reader’s intellectual enlightenment as its primary strategy, while entertaining the public in the same way that conventional literature and popular non-fiction genres are used. On the contrary, some are intended to obtain the reader’s feelings - emotional reaction to motivate them to take action. Rhetorically structured works often use a wide variety of embedded narrative forms for different purposes. Among them, the novel often contains a large section of rhetoric as an explanation or comment. The conclusion of this paper is derived from the continuous intersection of the information components in two kinds of works and the possible impact of different strategies on the readers.
