Lockheed Sanders has developed a new monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) that is expected to be used to develop airborne phased array radar and electronic countermeasures systems. The development of active phased array radars for advanced aircraft relies on the miniaturization of electron-emitting devices. One phase array contains a large number of radiating elements. Each radiating element has a phase shifter, which is a key element in forming the correct pattern.
