河南省商城县丁家岩位于大别山金岗台北坡脚下,是个两沟四洼八面坡的小山村。全村四个居住点,19户,89人,52亩耕地就有128块,人均0.58亩。现有山林果树480亩;油桐、茶叶、油茶,木梓等经济林95.5亩;有水杉、刺槐、马尾松、杂树等用材林320亩,活立木蓄积三千多立方米。还有辛荑、桂花、月桂、栀子、腊梅等药材与花卉。林木覆盖率达到72.19％。1985年人均收入超过300元,其中林果人均收入158元。
