●“九五”期间,国民生产总值年均增长速度超过8％,2000年国内生产总值将达到8.6万亿元,经济总量由世界第九位跃居第七位。 ●煤炭、钢、化学纤维、数字程控交换机等重要产品为世界首位。 ●国家外汇储备超过1500亿美元,位居世界第二。 ●1999年我国通信业务收入达到2803亿元,比上年增长24.6％。截至2000年9月20日,我国电话用户总数已突破两亿户,其中,固定电话超过1.35亿户,移动电话超过6500万户。两者规模均居世界第二位,仅次于美国。

As of September 20, 2000, the total number of telephone users in our country exceeded 200 million, of which there were over 135 million fixed-line phones and over 65 million mobile phones. Both rank the second largest in the world in size, second only to the United States.
