I. Preface The Kawamura Reservoir is located in the upper reaches of Liuduyuan, Chun’an County, Zhejiang Province. The dam is a clay core wall dam with a maximum height of 27.5 meters and a normal storage capacity of 2.9 million cubic meters. In 1958, due to the lack of necessary geological survey work in advance, during the construction of the left dam spillway in 1961, large landslides occurred on the left bank of the mountain with a decline of 180,000 cubic meters. The spillway under construction was destroyed , Threatening the safety of the project and the downstream, which caused the higher level leaders and water conservancy departments to attach great importance. After exploration, it was found that the water cutoff wall of the dam did not dig the impervious rock, the left dam head was connected with the ancient landslide body about 200 meters upstream and downstream, and the spillway and culvert were all located in this landslide body
