The cell growth cycle is controlled by a series of cell cycle regulatory proteins. The introduction of this regulatory theory opens up a new field for the study of the pathogenesis of kidney disease. This review summarizes the structure, function and regulatory mechanisms of the cell cycle regulatory proteins and their roles in different kidney diseases.
