Hypothermia is protective in hemispheric or local transient ischemic and permanent ischemia models in animals, but the mechanisms that underlie the protective effects are not well understood. It is speculated that glutamate released from focal cerebral infarction is a neurotoxic substance that can cause damage to ischemic neurons. This study examined the effect of mild hypothermia on glutamate levels in permanent focal cerebral infarction and penumbra cortex. Male Wistar rats were divided into normal temperature group (37 ℃) and mild hypothermia group (33 ℃). Right middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)
