2008年11月2日在对梅迪奇时期的工程建筑研究过程中.尤其是梅迪奇墓的发现。及其后对墓址的研究.让我们用另一种视角看待这位公爵。他的性格似乎包含着忧郁.而童年时的悲伤使他有了抑郁症的倾向。那个时代的人称梅迪奇公爵是一个有着伟大思想的王子.和蔼可亲又能“万事民为先”.他年幼时就崭露出外交天赋,这也得益于他精通四门外语。他对所有的艺术似乎都很敏锐.他总是怀着极大的喜悦接受这些艺术的熏陶,这无疑完善了他作为一名王子的品格。梅迪奇公爵一生都恪守对国家、对王朝的政治责任.而这也像一张紧密的网,束缚了他的发展。
