Natural gas plays an important role in promoting the sustained and steady economic development in the Asia-Pacific countries. From 1973 to 1990, the demand for natural gas in the Asia Pacific region grew at an annual rate of 18%, while the world average annual growth rate was 3.8%. Owing to the substantial growth of natural gas demand, the supply of natural gas in the Asia Pacific region will become even more tense after 1995, and by 2005, there will be a possible shortage of 9 million tons of liquefied natural gas. Therefore, a more effective and effective policy should be adopted for LNG projects. The cooperation between producers and investors should not only be strengthened, but also cooperation between buyers and sellers and between producers and consumers should be strengthened to ensure that projects Economically feasible.
