批评性话语分析主要是揭示语言、意识形态和权力之间的关系。在这一理论框架内,语言被认为是一种社会实践,是控制的工具。不同的语言形式或用法因为被使用的语境和交际目的不同而包含不同的意识形态。本文运用批评性话语分析的理论框架,以美国第35届总统JohnKennedy的就职演说为例,从情态、人称代词、隐喻用法以及词汇选择四个方面,探索这篇演说背后的意识形态,揭示肯尼迪如何通过语言强化这些意识形态达到其政治目的。
Critical discourse analysis is mainly to reveal the relationship between language, ideology and power. Within this theoretical framework, language is considered a social practice and a tool of control. Different forms or usages of language contain different ideologies because of different contexts and purposes of communication. This paper uses the theoretical framework of critical discourse analysis to take the inauguration speech of 35th President John Kennedy as an example to explore the ideology behind this speech from four aspects: modality, personal pronouns, metaphor usage and vocabulary selection, and to reveal how Kennedy These ideologies are reinforced by the language to achieve their political goals.
