古城荆州,曾是三国名医华佗为西蜀大将关羽刮骨疗毒的地方。千余年后的今天,这座中国历史文化名城,又出现了一位专攻骨病的青年中医师桂以发。贵州余庆患者陈武平,胸骨和脊椎骨化脓,终日卧床不起,每隔几日就要到当地医院抽脓约100毫升,苦不堪言;湖南少年患者许群芳,幼时不幸染上脚骨炎,整日流脓不止,被迫中辍学业。两人均负疾多年、访医寻药多年,最终千里迢迢来到荆州,在桂以发妙手之下得以康复。前不久,笔者慕名来到荆州城西门内的江陵社会福利院康复医院,走访了这位享誉遐迩的“再造筋骨的人”。
