The article comes from Kevin Kelly’s talk at Stanford University in October about his insights on the major business technology trends for the next 20 years. The godfather of Silicon Valley, science and technology business prophet’s latest prediction is: 1, the next era is the era of oxygen. In the near future, the total amount of information we transmit over the wireless network will exceed the total amount of information that is transmitted over the cable network. The fastest growing in the world is not material but information. In the future, data will be transmitted more and more among everyone’s smart devices, not going back to the towers, switches, or the “cloud”. By 2020, more than two-thirds of messages will not travel more than 1 km.
