Founded in 1980, Wuhan Telecommunication Devices Corporation (WTD) is one of the earliest companies engaged in the research and development of long wavelength optoelectronic devices for optical fiber communications in China. While most domestic companies and research institutes remain in the state of providing samples and small batch production , WTD last year’s sales jumped from 50 million in 1999 to 250 million yuan, and it is estimated that the sales volume in 2001 will be 800 million yuan.
