小时候,林华素的父母常常对她说:“要记住,是党和解放军救了你和全家.”林华素生于1949年10月9日,当时的厦门正处于黎明前的黑暗,国民党在大陆做最后的顽抗.她生下仅7天,父亲林惠祥——厦门大学历史系教授、一位知名的爱国学者,因支持、同情学生爱国行动,被杀人魔王毛森所抓,关进了警备区司令部的监狱里.母亲将家里仅有的2元钱送到狱中给父亲,全家生活陷入困境.幸好两天后,中国人民解放军解放了厦门,父亲和全家才得以解救.幼小的林华素对党和解放军充满了深深的感激之情,随着年龄的增长,在父母的言传身教下,这种感激之情与日俱增,她决心报答党的养育之恩.
