Since the establishment of the Merit Division in the 17th year of Yuan Dynasty (1280), the Meritor Division first paralleled the work of the General Establishment and supplemented each other and was repeatedly dismissed for various reasons. After the establishment of the Xuan Yuan Court, its power was weakened and gradually became a purely religious affairs institution that specialized in Buddhist affairs and printed Buddhist scriptures. The predecessors’ studies on merit dean are few, and the research of merit dean in Yuan Dynasty is only discussed briefly in Bai Wenguo’s “History of Monk Officials in China”. On the basis of previous studies, this article will make a detailed study of officials of Merits and Demands of the Yuan Dynasty on the basis of comprehensive utilization of anthologies of the anthropology and history of Buddhism.
