在接受《Times Picayune》的专访中,奥尼尔是知无不言言无不尽,谈起了自己对于退役和过往经历的看法。问:你是怎么确定退役时间的?奥尼尔:我曾经一直是联盟中顶尖的球员,而我其实非常不愿意看到那些把我评价为中流球员的文章。到了我现在这个年龄,人们已经不会过于的重视了,但角色球员是我不愿意接受的。到了今天我依然还是相信如果上个赛季我们(凯尔特人)不受到伤病的打击,摆平热火绝对没问题。可惜岁月永远是谁都无法阻挡的,上个赛季结束之后我意识到了这点,所以退役也就变得不是那么不容易接受了。
In an interview with “Times Picayune”, O’Neill is full of knowledge, talk about his retirement and past experience. Q: How did you determine when you were retiring? O’Neill: I used to be the top player in the league, and I actually really do not want to see articles that rate me as a mid-stream player. By my age, people are not paying too much attention, but the character players I do not want to accept. Today I still still believe that if last season we (Celtics) are not hit by injuries, put the heat absolutely no problem. Unfortunately, the years are forever no one can stop, after the end of last season I realized this point, so the retired also becomes not so easy to accept.
