Method and system for producing one or more products from a gas stream produced by a methanol production process. The process involves converting at least a portion of the methanol feed to a substrate containing CO and hydrogen. The substrate containing CO and hydrogen is anaerobically fermented in a bioreactor to produce one or more alcohols. The method and system also include the use of methanol produced for the production of acetic acid.
