江苏省位于中国东部沿海长江三角洲,是经济较为发达的沿海省份之一,自然地理条件优越,经济、科技、文化发达,历史悠久、人杰地灵,是我国城市兴起较早,小城镇发展较快的省份之一。到1996年,金省共有1981个小城镇,其中建制镇1061个,占小城镇数的5496,星罗棋布的小城镇正成为江苏农村一定区域的政治、经济、文化、科技、教育、信息中心。 Jiangsu Province is located in the Yangtze River Delta on the eastern coast of China.
