This thesis attempts to clarify the effectiveness of applying Communicative Approach in college English teaching in China. The author begins with the brief introduction of Communicative Approach and one important conception—communicative competence. She also describes the main feature and the respective roles of teachers and learners in a communicative class.In the conclusion part, the author summarizes some misconceptions in current communicative language teaching practice and reveals the reasons.
