It is known that CTL, NK and LAK cytoplasmic granules contain a variety of mediators including the perforin and serine esterase families, wherein perforin forms tubular channels on the cytoplasmic membrane to lyse target cells. The exact distribution of these two media is not yet clear. Colloidal gold labeling technology is now used to locate the two mediators in LAK and CTL cell pellets.
