Objective To understand the status of health information literacy among urban and rural residents in Jilin Province and its influential factors. Methods By using multi-stage stratified multi-stage sampling method (PPS), a questionnaire survey was conducted on residents aged 15-69 in Jilin Province. Results In 2014, a total of 4,358 health literacy monitoring projects were conducted in Jilin Province, and 4,321 valid questionnaires were returned. In 2014, the health literacy level of residents in Jilin Province was 12.4%. Urban residents 14.9%, rural residents 10.4%; 35 to 44 residents of the highest level of health information literacy (14.2%), 65-69 years of residents the lowest (7.7%); college / undergraduate education of the highest level of health information literacy (21.0%) with the lowest level of education at primary school and below (8.6%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the level of health information literacy of rural residents was lower than that of urban residents (OR = 0.722, 95% CI 0.587-0.889). The higher the level of education, the higher the level of health information literacy, OR of 1.415 (95% CI: 1.088-1.841), 1.980 (95% CI: 1.426-2.749) for those with reference to junior high school, high school / vocational high school / technical secondary school, college / ), 2.932 (95% CI: 2.026 ~ 4.245).
