甜叶菊(也叫甜菊)原产巴西、巴拉圭、阿根廷三国交界的阿曼拜山脉,属亚热带多年生菊科草本植物。叶中含有甜叶菊糖甙,甜度为蔗糖的150—300倍。据日本报道,一年生甜叶菊每亩可收干叶180—780斤;二年生每亩可收400—1,400斤,每亩糖甙产量比蔗糖产量高几倍到几十倍。甜叶菊是低热糖料,近年来,国外用它代替合成糖料,做低热食品,在医药上治疗糖尿病、肥胖症、心脏病和防治小儿虫齿等方面均有疗效。我院于1978年初由日本引入少量种子试种,繁殖种子60多克,育成种苗600株。一、甜叶菊生态特性与北京气候的关系
