2007年2月27日,全球零售业巨头沃尔玛公司宣布出资10亿美元购买BCL公司35%股权。这是沃尔玛首次在中国展开并购,已获得中国政府的批准。BCL在中国34个城市运营101家好又多超市。沃尔玛表示预计在2010年会实现完全控股。实现控股好又多,沃尔玛将凭借其在中国市场的超市网点数量超越其最强劲的竞争对手——法国家乐福,一跃成为在中国最大的食品和百货供应商。业内人士表示,此宗收购将会加剧中国连锁商业的竞争程度,行业的集中程度将会提高,一些经营不善的企业将会成为被收购的对象。
February 27, 2007, the global retail giant Wal-Mart announced a $ 1 billion investment to buy a 35% stake in BCL. This is the first time Wal-Mart started its merger and acquisition in China and has obtained the approval of the Chinese government. BCL operates 101 supermarkets in 34 Chinese cities. Wal-Mart said it expects to achieve full control in 2010. With so many holdings, Wal-Mart will be the largest food and department store in China by leaps and bounds with its most powerful competitor, Carrefour of France, with its supermarket outlets in China. Insiders said the acquisition will exacerbate the competition in China’s chain commerce, the industry will increase the degree of concentration, and some poor management of the business will be the subject of the acquisition.
