This paper studied on the fermentation properties of immobilized yeast cells (Saccharomyees cerevisiae)which was embeded in a new carrier, PVA-alginate gel. The results showed a high ethanol productivity was achieved by immobilized yeast cells Ganhua-1 entrapped in this carrier,concentration of immobilized cells reached 10~9/g-gel after immobilized cells were made multiplying culture, time of multiplying cuhure was 36-48h, and the optimum fermentation conditions were:PH range of ferment hquid was between 4 and 6,temperature range was between 30 and 34℃, glucose concentration was the 15%.
