美国斯坦福大学经济学教授内森·罗森堡(Nathan Rosenberg)与人合著的《西方是怎样致富的》一书,共分十章:(一)导言;(二)起点:中世纪;(三)至1750年贸易的发展;(四)有利商业的体制的演变;(五)工业的发展:从1750年至1880年;(六)组织的多样性:公司;(七)技术、托拉斯和买卖股票;(八)科学和财富的联系;(九)企业的多样性;(十)意义和对比。本刊发表的是该书导言部分的译文。受篇幅限制,本刊作了删节。
Nathan Rosenberg, professor of economics at Stanford University, co-authored “How the West is Rich”, which is divided into ten chapters: (a) Introduction; (b) Starting point: Middle Ages; (iii) The development of trade in 1750; (iv) the evolution of a favorable commercial system; (e) the development of industry: from 1750 to 1880; (vi) the diversity of organizations: companies; (vi) technology, trusts and trading Stock; (8) the connection between science and wealth; (9) diversity of enterprises; (10) meaning and comparison. This publication is the translation of the introductory part of the book. Due to space limitations, this article was abridged.
