In the United States, the application scale of fly ash and slag has been increasing year by year. According to statistics, the discharge of fly ash and slag in the United States was 10 million tons in 1950, which was doubled by 1970 and is expected to exceed 50 million tons by 1980. The basic directions for the use of fly ash and slag in the United States are the production of cement and various types of concrete, road building materials, brick making and the production of man-made porous lightweight aggregates (ceramsite). Many U.S. companies have earlier used power station fly ash and slag to produce cement and concrete. Experience shows that this construction material has good performance. In 1947, a concrete plant with fly ash added was used for the construction of a power station.
