李盛铎(1859-1934年),字椒微,号木斋,晚年又号麐嘉居士等。江西德化人。清季至民国初年历任显职,包括出使日本、京师大学堂总办等。他家世代有藏书,他继承了其父李明墀所藏。自购大宗书籍来源有二:一为清季名藏家袁芳瑛“卧雪庐”旧藏;二为出使日本先后购进的“和刻本”(日本刻本,“和”是“大和”简称)。另外则是历年收购及巧取豪夺所得。如大批敦煌卷子,就是他利用主管职务之便搞到手的,后来多售与日本人。
