月季花以色彩绚丽,香味浓郁,花型多样,四季常花的特点,为人们所喜爱。尽管月季花花色多、花型美,但是由于遗传特性所决定,都是一株一种色型、一种花型。人们早就希望能够培育出一株多色、一株多型的月季。几年来我们在这方面进行了一些探索,培育成功了多色月季。多色月季是用嫁接方法培育成功的一种栽培品种。在一株多色月季植株上,能够同时或先后开放两种以上,甚至十几种、几十种色彩和花型的花朵,并且可以按照需要进行构型和配色,极大地提高美化和观赏效果。如果在空间有限的庭院、阳台、厅室栽培或摆设这种多色月季,则一株胜似多株,所以特别受人欢迎。
