西岳华山,峻极天表,险绝人境,堪称名山之冠。它的原名叫“惇物山”,言其物产丰富。就是说,华山是奇险于表,美韵内含的名山,生物资源和矿产种类繁多,尤其盛产多种名贵中药材,使其成为富国饶人的物华天宝之地。 古语云:“自古名药出绝壁”,“华山有苗皆是药”。由此可见,华山自古就是有名的中药材产地之一,不仅药用植物种类多、资源丰富,而且分布广泛、蕴藏量大。
