科学工作在解放前后的两个时代中,受着两种完全不同的遭遇。在反动政府统治时代,科学研究没有自由,工作者人身没有自由,科学的命运是悲惨而可怜的。随着新中国的诞生,科学工作已经成为人民的事业,解放后五年来,科学事业迅速而蓬勃地发展着,而且以后更有无限光明的发展前途。当今第一届全国人民代表大会召开和建国五周年之际,我作为一个植物生态学与地植物学工作者,回想过去,对比现在,正是百感交集。
In two epochs before and after liberation, science was subjected to two completely different experiences. In the era of reactionary government, scientific research was not free, the workers were not free and the fate of science was tragic and pitiful. With the birth of New China, scientific work has become the cause of the people. In the five years after the liberation, the cause of science has rapidly and prosperously developed and there is boundless bright future for development. As the first National People’s Congress convenes today and the fifth anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, I, as a plant ecology and botany worker, recall the past and compare it with the present.
