甲苯是苯的同系物,为无色透明,无腐蚀性的芳香液体。沸点110.8℃,蒸气对空气的相对比重是3.14。甲苯易溶于丙酮、酒精、乙醚和苯,不溶于水。甲苯主要用于油漆、喷漆、橡胶和化工原料。由于甲苯的毒性比苯小,因此,甲苯在工业上更广泛地用作溶剂。但甲苯仍是一种工业毒物。
Toluene is a benzene homologue, colorless, transparent, non-corrosive aromatic liquid. The boiling point of 110.8 ℃, the relative weight of steam to air is 3.14. Toluene soluble in acetone, alcohol, ether and benzene, do not dissolve in water. Toluene is mainly used for paint, spray paint, rubber and chemical raw materials. Because toluene is less toxic than benzene, toluene is more widely used as a solvent in industry. However, toluene is still an industrial poison.
