Objective To observe the changes of serum calcium (Ca2 +) and magnesium (Mg2 +) in patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage and to explore its potential role in the pathophysiology of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage and its relationship with prognosis. Methods The serum levels of Ca2 + and Mg2 + in 40 patients with early cerebral hemorrhage were detected. Results Serum levels of Ca2 + and Mg2 + in patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage were significantly lower than those in control group (P <0.01). The levels of serum Ca2 + and Mg2 + in patients with conscious disturbance were significantly lower than those in patients with unconsciousness (P <0.05) The serum levels of Ca2 + and Mg2 + in the death group were also significantly lower than those in the surviving group (P <0.05). Conclusion The levels of serum Ca2 + and Mg2 + in acute stage of cerebral hemorrhage are all decreased, and the levels of Ca2 + and Mg2 + in severe illness are decreased obviously. It is suggested that Ca2 + and Mg2 + are involved in the pathophysiological process of brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage. The content of Ca2 + and Mg2 + The change can be used as an indicator to evaluate its prognosis
