Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a central nervous system degenerative disease that is common in the elderly and is characterized by dyskinesia. White matter disease (WMLs) is an imaging term used to describe the speckled or lamellar changes of the white matter in the periventricular, subcortical white matter, and centrum semiovale. The relationship between PD and WMLs is still controversial. This review summarizes the incidence, pathological mechanism, imaging characteristics of PD patients and their effects on cognitive function and dyskinesia of PD.
