This is a kind of low alloy steel with ideal magnetism suitable for making power material such as transformer iron core. This material improves texture and reduces iron loss. This alloy contains 0.6 to 1.0% silicon and 0.4 to 0.8% chromium, while controlling the contents of manganese, sulfur, carbon and oxygen. These alloys are best machined to a final thickness of 0.006 inch (0.015 cm) by three cold rolling processes. The B_ (10) of these alloys is above 19 kilo-gauss and the iron loss at 17 kilo-gauss is below 0.72 watts per pound.
