1944年下半年,世界反法西斯战争已取得决定性胜利,日本侵略者为了挽救其在太平洋战争中的不利局面,遂纠集兵力发动了旨在打通从中国占领区到印度支那(越南)的陆上交通线的战役。豫湘桂国民党守军一触即溃,日军很快攻陷桂林、柳州、南宁,并分兵出广州湾(湛江),南路、桂南成为前线和敌后。
In the second half of 1944, the world anti-fascist war has achieved a decisive victory. In order to save its unfavorable situation in the Pacific War, the Japanese aggressors mobilized their troops to launch land-based transport aimed at opening up landlocked areas from occupied China to Indochina (Vietnam) Line of battle. The Guomindang troops in Hunan, Hunan and Guangxi hit at a stroke, and the Japanese troops quickly captured Guilin, Liuzhou and Nanning and were divided into Guangzhou Bay (Zhanjiang), South and Guinan to become the front lines and the enemy’s rear.
