There is growing evidence that the regulation of the selective cleavage of precursor mRNA is of importance in the pathophysiology of cancer and that selective cleavage of caspase-9 mRNA plays an important role in the development and progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) The ratio of caspase-9 and caspase-9b, two cleavage isoforms of caspase-9, is closely related to the occurrence and maintenance of NSCLC tumors, and regulating the ratio may affect the sensitivity of NSCLC cells to anti-cancer therapy. Therefore, the selective cleavage of caspase-9 is the focus of most treatment and diagnosis of NSCLC.This article reviews the selective cleavage of caspase-9 and its application in the treatment of NSCLC.
