栽培在盐漬化土壤上的棉株,其生长和发育过程迟緩,表現着植株矮小,叶面积小,果枝短,节間短,花小,鈴小。土壤不同程度的盐漬化对棉株生育、表現着很大的差异,苗期就很顯著。在0-20厘米土层內氯盐的浓度为0.025％时苗子尚表現十分正常;0.09％时則对棉籽发育有不顯著的抑制作用;0.12％时,棉苗受到很大的抑制;0.19％时,則棉株死亡,被抑制的棉株整个生长过程中发育也很迟緩(表1)。
