Since mid-July, rainfall between the JAC in our province has been only 164 millimeters, 60% less than in the same period of previous years. The rainfall has been the minimum for the same period since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Three million mu of farmland have suffered drought and some people and livestock have difficulty in drinking water. In late July, the main channel of 37 kilometers of Jiangsu section of the Huaihe River was cut off, and navigation was resumed in early August. On the 22nd, five coal mines in Gangzi Town, Jiawang Town, Xuzhou City, experienced a large-scale coal-dust gas explosion and 89 people died.
