For high specific power gasoline engines, the manufacture of hypereutectic alloy pistons must be given special consideration. In producing these high-quality pistons, priority should be given to strict quality control and the use of diamond tools. It is well-known that today’s gasoline engines are more demanding than previous gasoline engines and operate at much higher temperatures. A few years ago, similar workload requirements were encountered for marine, racing, and other high-performance uses. At present, hypereutectic alloys have been developed in piston manufacture to replace the usual hypoeutectic and eutectic alloys used in the manufacture of pistons. These alloys
