新课改要求教师转变角色,由传统课堂教学中的的主体地位,转变为教育课堂教学活动中的组织者、设计者、指导者与参与者。在传统的学习方式中,课堂的主角是教师,好学生是配角中的主角,大多数学生只是观众与听众,而且一味地强调学生接受教师灌输的现有知识,很少甚至没有考虑过学生的真实感受。而新课改强调的是教师是学习活动的组织者和引导者,同时认为学生才是课堂的主题,教师应尽可能把课堂还给学生,让尽可能多的学生参与课堂中来,把主动权还给学生。
