著名物理冶金学家、中国科学院副院长、中国金属学会副理事长李薰同志,因病于一九八三年三月二十日溘然长逝,终年七十岁。李薰同志于一九一三年十一月二十日出生在湖南省邵阳县。一九三七年以优异成绩留学英国Sheffield大学,先后获得哲学博士和冶金学的科学博士学位。一九五○年响应中国共产党的号召,接受中国科学院郭沫若院长的聘请,回国参加社会主义建设,历任中国科学院金
Renowned physical metallurgist, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Metals, Comrade Li Xun, died suddenly of March 30, 1983, at the age of seventy. Comrade Li Hsun was born in Shaoyang County, Hunan Province on November 20, 1913. In 1937 she graduated with honors from Sheffield University in the United Kingdom and obtained her Ph. D. and Ph.D. degrees in metallurgy. In 1950, in response to the call of the Chinese Communist Party, he was hired by Dean Guo of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to return to China to participate in the socialist construction.
