With the disintegration of former Soviet sports body Soviet Union, the five countries of the former Soviet Union and Central Asia including Kazakhstan have been allowed to form their own teams in the Asian region and will participate in the Asian Games from 1994 onwards. The joining of these five countries will undoubtedly change the original Asian sports environment and put a mysterious veil on the upcoming Hiroshima Asian Games. Among the five countries, Kazakhstan ranks first in competitive sports strength among the top five.
