邓小平同志历来十分重视科学技术工作，提出了科学技术是第一生产力的论断，使马克思主义的科技学说和生产力理论达到了一个新的高度。他指出我国实现四个现代化，关键是科学技术要能上去，强调中国必须在世界高科技领域占有一席之地。他还强调抓科技必须同时抓教育。邓小平同志的科技思想，是邓小平理论的重要组成部分，是新形势下搞好科技工作的指路明灯。
Comrade Deng Xiaoping has always attached great importance to science and technology work and proposed that science and technology be the primary productive force and has brought Marxist theory of science and technology and the theory of productive forces to a new height. He pointed out that the key to realizing the four modernizations in our country lies in the fact that science and technology should be able to go up and that China must have a place in the high-tech world. He also stressed that science and technology must at the same time pay attention to education. Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s thinking on science and technology is an important part of Deng Xiaoping Theory and is the beacon to doing a good job in science and technology in the new situation.
