首先我要声明我的报告既不是学术性的亦非理论性的,而是基于本人身为福冈美术博物馆负责人近年来对亚洲当代美术的感受.一两年前,在第四届孟加拉双年展举行期间,福冈美术博物馆在日本举办了第三届亚洲美展.该展开幕前,我相信它会获得成功,因为我们认为在该展的组织上所做的一些改变会带来好的结果.但是,当全部作品在画廊里展出后,我开始对该展是否成功发生怀疑.在此后的两年中,我的怀疑进一步加深.事到如今,我对我们的亚洲美展的前途已感到相当悲观.我衡量亚洲当代美术价值的标准在1989年福冈美术馆的展览后开始动摇.我想从我产生疑虑的原因谈起.
First of all, let me state that my report is neither academic nor theoretical, but based on my own experience of being a contemporary art director in Asia in recent years at Fukuoka Museum of Fine Arts. A year or two ago, During the exhibition, the Fukuoka Art Museum held the 3rd Asian Art Exhibition in Japan, and I believe it will be a success before the show, because we think some changes in the organization of the show will bring about good results. But when all the work was shown in the gallery, I started to doubt the success of the show, and my suspicions deepened for the next two years. So far, I have felt pretty much about the future of our Asian art exhibition. Pessimistic, my criteria for measuring the value of contemporary art in Asia began to waver after the exhibit at the Fukuoka Art Museum in 1989. I would like to start with the reasons for my doubts.
